Milton Keynes Open 2008 COMBERTON Tiggers were crowned the top club at the Milton Keynes Open. They beat off the challenge of 10 other trampoline clubs to win the prestigious annual shield, which the organising club, Galaxy, are now having engraved before handing it over. The success, based on points accumulated during the day-long competition, was based on Tiggers phenomenal return where 21 of their 30 competitors secured a top-five finish in a range of classes ranging from beginners, some in their first event, to Grade 3 level, one below the national standard. Tiggers achieved seven top spots, seven seconds, three thirds, three fourths and a fifth place, as well as a couple of team gold medals. The day started well as early competitors Georgia Berry (under-9 Grade 5) and Kerri Hilton-Taylor (under-11 Grade 5) both won their classes. Anna Czylok followed up with bronze in the under-9 Beginners, a competition in which tiny Jemma Winter was fifth in her first competition. Tiggers’ trophy collection continued steadily with Sam Reynolds (under-15 Grade 5) and Sam Rowbotham (under-11 Grade 5) taking silver medals, with Greg Kendall fourth in the younger class. | Becca Sebley and Jessica Winter were second and third respectively in the under-11 Beginners’ class before Sarah Buisson surprised herself with top spot at under-15 Grade 5. Tiggers had three of the top four finishers in the closely-fought under-13 Beginners’ with Leah Beckett, newcomer Ruth Smith and Kate Czylok coming first, second and fourth respectively. With Gemma Sebley they also won team gold. Tate Tucker won the under-13 Grade 4 event with team-mate Katie Reynolds third before Paige Tucker completed a family double with fantastic scores in the under-17 Grade 4 class. Sophie Rudkin and Phoebe Chambers, another competing for the first time, made it a Tiggers one-two in the under-15 Beginners and with Kelly Dedross took team gold. Lauren Hilton-Taylor (under-15 ungraded) and Sophia Berry (under-17 Grade 3) took silver. Diminutive Jordan Winter, 10, had her under-13 Grade 3 class combined with the under-15s, but she held her own to finish fourth. Coach Andie Buckley said: “I was really pleased for all the Tiggers who worked so hard. Not only did we have some excellent individual performances, but we won the team shield. I was delighted with that.” For full results of the day go to results page |
