Comberton Tiggers Trampoline Club History

1988-1990:Andie's Mum decided that for her 8th Birthday Andie (then Andrea) could join Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club to try and get rid of some of her boundless energy! Trampolining was her favourite apparatus.

1995: 15yr old Andie began to bounce at Shawclough Community Primary School where she met Sue Lewis, the coach who influenced Andie's high standards and coaching philosophy.

1996: Rochdale Trampoline Club (at the time non competitive) was founded and Andie began to bounce a couple of times a week.

November 1998: Once she had turned 18Andie was asked by Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council to take the Trampoline Coaching Award, following her potential as a   coach being spotted by Sue. Andie soon began coaching at Shawclough Community Primary School, Littleborough Community School, Oulder Hill Secondary School (as part of Rochdale Trampoline Club) and her school friends at Wardle High School during sixth form   trampoline lessons.

September 1999: Andie moved from Syke, Rochdale to Cambridge to begin her BA degree in Geography with Education Studies at Cambridge University, she soon joined the University Trampoline Club.

July 2000:Andie was elected as Head Coach of Cambridge University Trampoline Club and decided   to liase with Diane Cook, Head of Community Education at Comberton Village College,  about the possibility of continuing the two recreational classes that had been coached by Antonia Bayliss, the previous Head Coach of Cambridge.

September 2000: Andie began coaching two classes on a Friday (16 children) at Comberton Village College (with our now 'non-bouncy' trampoline and two trampolines which have since   been discarded, these were probably less bouncy than garden trampolines are!).

September 2003:  With the construction of CB3 Leisure completed,  Andie registered 'Comberton Tiggers (because bouncing is what tiggers do best) Trampoline Club' with the Brititsh Gymnastics and 32 Tiggers began to compete in the Eastern Region, Andie was by then coaching three nights a week totaling 12 hours. Andie also at this time started coaching 3 recreational classes at Impington Village College.

October 2004:  Due to the demands of the ever-growing Tiggers, Andie stopped coaching at Impington to enable her to offer another evening at Comberton. This brought coaching hours up to 17 a week. Andie moved the top bouncers from Impington to Tiggers (those still bouncing in 2009 are Jordan, Olivia and Sam).

February 2005: 50 Children took part in our first 24hr sponsored bounce, raising £1500 towards a new trampoline that was part funded by Comberton Village College.

January 2007: Andie reduced her coaching hours to enable her to take on a full-time job in Ely as a Planner. The club Committee was established due to the ever increasing demands of the ever growing local club, And Tiggers employed a second Coach, Carol Leonard, to take 2 sessions on a Thursday.

July 2007:  Our Highest level (to date) Tigger, Sophia Berry passed her Assistant Coaching Award.

September 2008:  The club almost doubled in size at it reached its fifth anniversary,  Tiggers employed 2 more coaches and 4 session assistants.  Enabling the club to offer more sessions.

January 2009:Tiggers held its first presentation evening with many Tiggers being awarded medals and trophies by Andie for their achievements over the year, The first Tigger of the Year was announced,
